FTS Strengthens its Relationship with freenet AG

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

FTS (News - Alert), a provider of Billing, CRM and Business Control solutions for communications and content service providers, has announced that freenet AG, a German-based Internet and telecommunications company, has decided to upgrade its charging and billing systems to FTS’ newest release — Leap Billing 4.6.

A real-time charging and billing solution, Leap Billing allows providers to bill for convergent, next-generation services delivered over single or multiple network technologies.

FTS states that Leap Billing is based on FTS’ patented business-control technology, and captures events in real time and responds to them based on a preconfigured set of business policies or actions.

freenet AG will be upgrading its existing FTS billing platform to the latest version of FTS’ Leap Billing. In 2004, the company implemented FTS’ flagship Leap Billing solution for rating, billing and customer care of its voice, broadband and data services.

This latest upgrade is expected to offer freenet billing flexibility and in-house control, implementing real-time billing decisions on the basis of business rules that can be defined and updated without the need for vendor intervention.

freenet AG plans to use the latest version of FTS’ Leap Billing to support its traditional voice, carrier preselect voice, broadband, dial-up Internet and VoIP services, in addition to content and e-commerce services offered through the freenet portal.

freenet AG’s officials explained that the upgrade will provide their company with new modules for business planning, customer contact and inventory management.

Additionally, it will offer capabilities to independently define and update business rules for charging and billing, enabling responses to business policies within multi-service environments, with cross discounting and promotions.

Claiming that FTS has repeatedly demonstrated unparalleled professionalism throughout the last four years of working with freenet, Nicolas Tetau, billing manager at freenet AG, commented in a statement, “We have found FTS’ market leading Leap Billing solution to be extremely flexible, enabling us to implement new services and bundles easily and cost effectively.”

“We are delighted to be building on our longstanding relationship with freenet with this upgrade to Leap Billing 4.6,” remarked Gil Hurwitz, Chief Operating Officer at FTS. “This upgrade is testimony to our success in meeting freenet’s needs within complex, multi-play scenarios.”
