BellSouth and MDU Roll Out Triple-Play, Including DIRECTV, at Two Property Developments

By Laura Stotler, TMCnet Contributing Editor

BellSouth and MDU Communications International, Inc. have agreed to provide triple-play services, including DIRECTV, to two property developments in the Atlanta, Georgia area. The companies will deliver bundles of voice, data and DIRECTV programming packages to Post Spring and The Reynolds developments.

The triple-play offerings will be designed for the MDU market, and will provide property owners and residents an alternative to franchised cable. Post Spring is part of Post Properties, one of the largest developers of upscale multi-family communities in the U.S. The company owns 21,722 apartment homes in 61 communities, including 545 apartment units in two communities held in unconsolidated entities and 512 apartment units in two communities under construction.

The Reynolds, developed by Urban Realty Partners, offers boutique condominium environments. It is located within the in-town SoNo district of Atlanta. BellSouth (News - Alert) and MDU plan to jointly coordinate network construction at the properties to ensure on-time delivery of communications and entertainment services.

“Post Properties and Urban Realty Partners are well-respected developers of multi-family luxury apartments and condominiums and BellSouth is pleased to be able to deliver the products and services that make sense to their residents,” said Phil Jacobs, president of BellSouth Community Technologies. “The combination of BellSouth’s reputation and reliable communications products and MDU Communication’s video services and experience with multi- family properties will uniquely position both companies to meet the demanding service and reliability requirements of today's multi-family owners, developers and residents.”

“The sales teaming agreement between BellSouth and MDU Communications (News - Alert) is and will continue to be an effective method for both companies to combine their individual strengths and provide great products and service to the generally under-served multi-family market,” said Sheldon Nelson, CEO of MDU Communications. “BellSouth’s introduction of MDU Communications to Post Properties has already resulted in a relationship that is taking MDU Communications beyond the Southeastern territory and into our other regions.”
