British Telecommunications (BT) said that its BT Total Broadband Anywhere service is now equipped with mobile security software from SMobile Systems (News - Alert).

 

SMobile will provide its integrated Security Shield software to BT (News - Alert) to protects users from malware delivered via e-mail, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and more.

 

Rick Roscitt (News - Alert), CEO at SMobile Systems, stated that BT Total Broadband Anywhere ushers in a new level of connectivity for mobile phones with all the value for users.

 

He noted that a user wouldn't buy a new computer without ensuring that the best security products are installed, while pointing out, “our philosophy is the same for today's mobile devices which pack the processing capabilities of the average computer but need separate and custom mobile protection.”

 

“Thanks to Security Shield, over three million BT customers will be given the option to stay in contact, securely,” he added.

 

Subscribers to BT Total Broadband Anywhere service receive broadband service at home and BT ToGo, an all-in-one, Internet-enabled phone designed to email and surf the Internet, in-or-out of the home.

 

BT’s officials explained BT ToGo allows users to connect to the Internet wherever they are and also offer services like Snap and Send, that let's them save and share photos and the ability to make VoIP calls from the same device.

 

David Grossman, GM Mobility and Convergence (News - Alert) at BT, said “There are over three million consumers that have our broadband services in the UK and we believe that BT Total Broadband Anywhere will encourage a new level of broadband adoption.”

 

He also said that couple this with the BT ToGo and BT's broadband customers will be empowered to take advantage of all the benefits of the broader Internet in ways they have never experienced before.

 

“Wherever or however a customer is communicating, we want to ensure their devices remain connected and secure. After extensive testing, we chose SMobile Systems to provide the level of security required by us and our customers,” he added.
