XConnect (News - Alert), the company which connects people via its award-winning 'Plug and Peer' VoIP federation-based interconnection services, has appointed Tania Platt as vice president, global sales and John Wilkinson as vice president, federations.

Tania Platt carries with her the vast experience from IDT, where she was serving as senior vice president for Europe. In this role, Platt built a successful European team and produced record-breaking results, managing business in Western Europe, as well the quickly deregulating Eastern European markets.

 

Prior to IDT, Plattspent 12 years with Cable & Wireless (News - Alert) in numerous capacities, including sales director of their international wholesale division.

 

John Wilkinson was previously director of voice services at Interoute and has over 10 years experience in the voice industry. At Interoute, Wilkinson was responsible for developing Arena, the International Voice Interconnect and Peering platform which provides interconnection to operators on a Pan-European basis. Prior to joining Interoute Wilkinson was head of product management for Energis Carrier Services, Swisscom (News - Alert), AT&T and KPN.

 

London-based XConnect is the provider of secure, ENUM based Peering Federations.

ENUM is the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) protocol that facilitates the convergence of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and the IP network.

 

 XConnect’s ENUM registry and Peering Federations enable service providers to more intelligently route their calls, and distinguish different types of traffic on a call-by-call basis which includes; end-to-end VoIP sessions, mobile and fixed-line termination. 

 

The service enables operators to drastically reduce off-net termination costs; increase quality of service; more efficiently managing their VoIP Interconnects; and deliver enhanced IP Communications services.

 

The appointment of these two senior level executives comes as a significant initiative by XConnect.
