A nationwide provider of business communication services, Bandwidth.com today announced the certification of its SIP Trunk phone services.

 

The SIP Forum (News - Alert), an independent IP communications industry association, awarded the company “SIPconnect Compliant” certification. The SIP Forum comprises individuals and companies that aid the development of IP communications around the world according to the SIP standard.

 

Bandwidth.com says it offers businesses voice and data communications, applications, and services. The new certification for SIPconnect compliance is an assurance that the company’s SIP trunks can be easily integrated with a customer’s IP-PBX (News - Alert) system without requiring any complex interoperability testing, according to the company. Bandwidth.com supports TDM services with a complete line of converged voice and data communications, company officials say.

 

The SIPconnect Compliant program was designed to validate and certify multimedia communication interoperability for IP communications equipment manufacturers and software and service providers, they say. It also aims to encourage greater adoption of the Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) as the primary standard for all IP-based communications, according to the company.

 

“SIPconnect certification provides small and medium sized business customers with validation that they can attain seamless interoperability between Bandwidth.com’s product line of unlimited SIP Trunks and certified IP-PBX systems,” stated David Morken, president and chief executive officer of Bandwidth.com.

 

The SIP Forum recently acknowledged a surge in membership since the start of 2008. This includes corporate full membership as well as individual “participant” membership, showing a 100 percent growth rate over 2007, officials say. The SIP Forum serves 46 full member corporations as well as over 5,000 individual members from across the world. Some of the companies that have most recently joined the SIP Forum with a full membership are AudioCodes Ltd., Bandwidth.com, Cable Television Laboratories, Inc., CGI Group (News - Alert) Inc, Covergence, Dialogic Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft Corporation, NEC Unified Solutions Inc., Sonus Networks, Tekelec, and Telsis Limited.

 

Bandwidth.com was established in 1999 to “completely change the way that businesses bought telecom services.” Started by David Morken and Henry Kaestner (News - Alert) after being frustrated over the difficulty inherent in purchasing T1s, the firm says it aims to help businesses with similar difficulties.
