eAccess of Japan has reportedly signed an agreement with broadband networking system provider Redback Networks (News - Alert) Inc. to use Redback’s SmartEdge platform to offer multiple broadband services to its residential and business customers.
The agreement is part of eAccess’ plan to move over 1.5 million broadband users to Redback’s SmartEdge family of multi-service edge routers from Redback's SMS product platform. EAccess actually aims to deliver superior voice, video and mobility services in the future using Redback broadband device.
“Redback has a long history in Greater Asia, deploying innovative multi-service broadband networks for advanced voice and video services,” said Simon Williams, vice president of sales and operations for Asia at Redback Networks, in a news release. “Working with eAccess, one of our long-standing customers, is an excellent opportunity for Redback to demonstrate the power of multi-service networks for advanced voice, video and business services.”
With the agreement, eAccess becomes the 12th Top 20 carrier worldwide to set up Redback’s SmartEdge family of multi-service edge routers to deliver broadband, phone, and TV services. The company usually delivers aDSL broadband, mobile broadband, and value-added business services such as optical access, wireless LANs and VoIP

Services.
Redback currently has over 50 million broadband connections for top 20 carriers such as British Telecom, Belgacom, BellSouth, China Telecom, China Netcom, Chunghwa Telecom (News - Alert) (Taiwan), France Telecom, Korea Telecom and Turk Telecom etc.
