Major UK Publishing Distributor Deploys AVST's CallXpress

Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) has installed its CallXpress product suite at the headquarters of COMAG, a major UK publishing distributor in the United Kingdom.

The solution replaces COMAG’s legacy Octel system, which was reaching end-of-life and therefore became problematic, lacked technical support and did not offer the full functionality for the publishing distributor.

COMAG searched for a reliable and competitively priced solution that could increase its efficiency. The company also wanted the solution to improve on the functionality of its outdated system and could easily integrate with its Ericsson (News - Alert) MD110 PBX system, which includes IP capabilities.


The UK publishing distributor is now using the CallXpress Advanced Messaging System, which includes PC and MD110 integration. The solution has caused the company very little downtime and is currently used by around130 COMAG users.

Sharon Smith, COMAG’s company services manager said that the solution has enhanced customer satisfaction without increasing staff costs. The subscriptions department can use the automated attendant to enable callers to place orders for magazines without having to hold or call back if the lines are busy.

“This service has resulted in a substantial improvement of the department’s processes and efficiency. It ensures there are no lost calls, and customer requirements are met efficiently,” said Smith.

“CallXpress is ideal for a variety of voice and data convergence needs and can be uniquely tailored to fit businesses and organizations in a wide range of industries,” said Paul Cheslaw, AVST’s vice president and general manager, EMEA in a press release.

He continued: “Its ability to easily integrate with almost any corporate telecommunications infrastructure makes it an attractive choice for any company that is looking to upgrade or replace its current communications platform.”
