A new company named OKI (News - Alert) Networks Co. will be established as a result, effective Oct. 1.

OKI looks forward to expanding its telecom business by splitting its telecom division, excluding legacy-type business. The telecom business will be expanded by enhancing product development, according to the changing global network market.

OKI has been supplying telecom products to major telecom carriers in Japan and to the enterprise network market. Networks are however migrating to IP and also the use of NGN-based networks has resulted in rapid changes in the business environment. Additionally, competition has also been increasing worldwide.

“In order to become a winner in this competitive network market and further expand our telecom business, we understand that it is essential to further increase flexibility in management and establish a business structure that can respond to the changing market in a more agile and timely manner. Thus, we decided to establish OKI Networks,” said Masayoshi Matsushita, senior vice president at OKI.

“In addition, to expanding into new markets, we believe it is important to strengthen our marketing skills and at an early stage, establish a market-driven business model that is flexible and responsive to the market changes,” Matsushita added.

OKI Networks offers advanced services seamlessly by connecting telecom networks with enterprise networks that are based on NGN. OKI proposes to offer new products to expand its telecom business to better serve the global telecom market.
