Carrier Stella Communications has selected FiberNet for its SmartPartition VoIP switch partitioning services. The companies announced their partnership on Thursday. The FiberNet SmartPartition Services package routes VoIP traffic and aggregates it to a central system.

The package also offers carriers the service flexibility of the NexTone Session Border Controller (SBC) without having to shell out as much cash as they would if they had to install and operate a Class 4 switch.

“We knew that we needed streamlined connectivity along with access to quality operating statistics and billing data that new VoIP technology provides,” said Stella Communications' co-founder and CEO, Robert Jenkins in a statement. “We were absolutely delighted when we learned that FiberNet offered this managed service.”

SmartPartition services also allow customers to access FiberNet's Phonomenum Minutes Marketplace, an open clearinghouse for VoIP traffic. This opens the doors to carriers and service providers to directly buy and sell the origination and termination of domestic and international minutes-based voice services.

“We developed our SmartPartition services to meet the needs of carriers like Stella, who choose to focus their efforts on marketing and expanding their business while leveraging our investment and expertise in managing their VoIP infrastructure,” added Ernest Hoffmann, VP of Engineering & Service Delivery for FiberNet.

FiberNet launched its FiberNet SmartPartition Services back in October along with its VoIP Gateway (News - Alert). FiberNet VoIP Gateway Services offer TDM to VoIP conversion and inter-working between SS7 and C7 signaling.
