The BTS-4000RM is a small platform base station with big capacity and flexible interfaces. It is designed for GPRS/GSM/EDGE networks. It provides a higher level of functionality because it allows for the removal of BSC, TRAU and PCU elements.

Integration is also not a problem, as the BTS-4000RM may be used with other TECORE products, specifically SoftMSC and AirSite Backhaul Free base stations. It also supports other core network solutions over IP and TDM. This enables the use of wireless “plug and play” extensions. The new product also provides flexible network interfaces, including translation to a SIP-enabled interface and redirection of IP traffic. The interfaces allow the use of interactive multimedia elements, specifically voice, video and instant messaging, at faster speeds. The new technology also does not require a transcoder, thus allowing network bandwidth to be reduced.

The BTS-4000RM is best used for applications that need considerable coverage and performance in a compact network solution. The product may also be beneficial to remote areas that need satellite backhaul and large capacities for applications.
