Practically everyone in business knows the value of face-to-face communications, but in this current economic climate, most companies have had no choice but to cut their travel budgets. As such, many are adopting videoconferencing services to fill this essential business need.

Videoconferencing is particularly valuable for business meetings where visual information is an important component of the conversation. With the audio/video clarity of today’s systems, meeting participants can display charts, show close-ups of sample products, do demonstrations or even share documents – just as if everyone was in the same room.

That’s why business VoIP phone system maker Zultys (News - Alert) is partnering videoconferencing solutions provider Avistar Communications. The two companies announced today that Zultys IP PBXs can now be integrated with Avistar’s leading videoconferencing solution.

Specifically, Zultys will integrate Avistar’s C3 Media Engine into its IP PBX (News - Alert) appliances. Zultys says it plans to launch the integrated solution this fall.

This means Zultys’ customers will have the ability to add best-in-class desktop videoconferencing to their unified communications systems without the cost and hassle of complex integration.

 

Simon Moss, CEO of Avistar, said in a release that Avistar C3 (News - Alert) will help Zultys open new revenue streams and provide important new videoconferencing features that will strengthen its positioning in its markets worldwide.

 

“Videoconferencing provides the ROI our customers are looking for as part of their unified communications solutions, especially in a down economy, where travel is well scrutinized,” added Steve Morrison, vice president, product marketing, Zultys, in the release. “Avistar C3 augments our line of VoIP and Web conferencing products, empowering our customers to collaborate and take aggressive action to remain competitive.”

 

Avistar's desktop videoconferencing is on more than 100,000 desktops worldwide, and companies such as IBM (News - Alert) Corp., Sony Corp., LifeSize Communications, Inc. and Polycom Inc. are using its technology to power their unified communications solutions.

 

Avistar last made news on TMCnet when it announced that DataMart (News - Alert), a voice, data and video integration company, would be adding Avistar’s C3 desktop videoconferencing to its family of unified communications solutions.
