NetQuest Corporation, a manufacturer of test and monitoring access solutions, has just launched its Aspen quad port network interface card (NIC (News - Alert)) adapter, which is designed to optimize the performance of high-speed monitoring platforms.

Aspen is the latest addition to NetQuest’s PINNICLE family of WAN/LAN NICs launched specifically for traffic off-load and processing in high-speed networks.

NetQuest’s (News - Alert) PINNICLE NICs has gained good recognition in the industry, as it acts as a fine choice for mission critical applications like intrusion detection, performance monitoring, and interception. The newly launched Aspen joins the Tahoe and Alta members of the PINNICLE family.

Aspen is developed with the strong base of the previously launched products of PINNICLE family. With increased port and line speed capacity, it offers support for line speeds up to and including OC48/STM-16 in ATM, Packet over SONET/SDH (POS), and TDM networks, as well as support for 1G traffic in Ethernet networks.

Moreover, Aspen is stated to sustain traffic flow at full line rates without packet loss, thus it acts as highly useful in applications as intrusion detection, performance monitoring, and lawful interception. By using standard pluggable SFP transceivers, Aspen is believed by the company to become the right choice for system developers on a global basis.

“Aspen is the only module on the planet where a single integration effort can provide quad port density to both SONET/SDH networks and Ethernet networks,” said Jesse Price, vice president of sales and marketing at NetQuest.

“Aspen enables network monitoring vendors to create access-independent platforms while reducing development cost. Compatible with both PCI-X and PCIe bus technologies, Aspen is also bus independent, making it a logical solution as PCI-X enters the end of its life cycle in the industry and migration to PCIe occurs,” added Price.

Aspen quad port facility provides non-intrusive monitoring access for two full-duplex SONET/SDH lines, four Gigabit Ethernet lines, or a mix of line speeds and technologies on a single NIC.

NetQuest stated that the newly launched adapter is commercially available with immediate effect.
