Voyant International Corporation has teamed up with Connected Nation, a national non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, to realize their common goals making the ubiquitous broadband available throughout the United States. As the American society adopts broadband like never before, efforts are on to increase broadband penetration in rural or remote areas, where few major carrier wish to go. According to a report by the U.S. Internet Industry Association, the adoption of broadband and Internet technologies by the American public has been the most rapid in the nation's history. Broadband took 10 years to break 50% adoption, followed by the CD Player at 10.5 years, the VCR at 14 years, cell phones at 15 years and color TVs at 18 years.
As per the deal between the two companies, Voyant's general manager of software products and services, Jay Elliot, will join Connected Nation's (News - Alert) National Advisory Council. The council fosters American broadband availability and usage by advising, participating in and promoting the activities of Connected Nation. The council also comprises of representatives from several of America's leading broadband suppliers and public policy organizations.
“Voyant shares Connected Nation's goal of enhancing broadband access and usage throughout America," said Dana Waldman, CEO of Voyant, in a release. “Our RocketStream (News - Alert) and RocketConnect software allow users to maximize the utility of their broadband connections, and our white space radio and aviation broadband businesses are intended to increase the availability of broadband in new locations. All of these businesses support the goal of a well-connected society.”
Companies participating in the National Advisory Council include AT&T, the American Academy of Nursing, Communications Workers of America, Intel, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, CTIA, USTelecom (News - Alert), TIA, Comcast, Verizon, Cisco, Dell, the National Consumers League, the Children's Partnership, NIC, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, NASCIO, the World Institute on Disability and Microsoft (News - Alert).
Recently, Voyant announced Voyant Advisor, an interactive financial collaboration solution designed to empower consumers and help banks, retirement funds and retail advisories offer more holistic, goal-based planning solutions to their customers. Voyant also announced the launch of the company's UK operations, and its first UK customer, Novia Financial plc.
