Turkish ISP Selects Verso Softswitches
By Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Turkish ISP Superonline could soon launch its own VoIP services under its own brand thanks to Class 5 Softswitches it selected from Verso Technologies (News - Alert). The softswitches will enable Superonline to provide residential and enterprise VoBB services, which will be launched under the brands Alo!DECT and SuperTALK.
The Verso Class 5 Call Manager offers VoBB over broadband access including cable, xDSL, wireless, fiber, satellite, microwave, and power-line networks. According to Verso, its technology helps create satellite offices with the similar access and dialing plan capabilities as corporate PBXs.
"We can now offer advanced residential and enterprise communication services that provide a competitive advantage as we migrate to VoBB," commented Superonline's managing director Savas Unsal in a statement. "Superonline has positioned itself to become the leading brand not only for Turkey, but for Turkish-speaking communities around the globe, and Verso's softswitch solution is part of our plan to achieve this."
Today's news follows Verso's announcement just last month about it acquiring the iMarc product line from Paradyne Networks, a subsidiary of Zhone Technologies (News - Alert) for a combined $2.5 million. Verso had previously served as a reseller of Zhone products.
The iMarc product line is comprised of a suite of ATM, IP service units, and branch monitors. It will be integrated with Verso’s suite of products, which the company expanded last year when it acquired the assets of Verilink Corp. The iMarc product line is expected to expand the company’s access offerings, as well as its Tier-1 customer base, and it will also complement the company’s Verilink WanSuite product line.
