PortaOne announced the release of PortaBilling Oracularius, a VoIP billing and customer platform. This offers Tier 1 and Tier 2 providers complete launching, pricing and provisioning capabilities along with virtually unlimited scalability and reliability in Oracle (News - Alert) Real Application Cluster (RAC) environments.

 

PortaBilling Oracularius is a converged and open source billing product which supports residential, IP Centrex and wholesale phone services, data access services, IPTV (News - Alert), mobile services besides messaging and content download. The system ensures optimum bundling and customer billing at the same time having centralized control of customer funds.

 

The new product employs Oracle RAC for back-end data storage and deploys real-time billing logic on a cluster of multiple billing servers. Continuous operation is ensured even if there is a hardware problem in the server and scale-up is possible by the addition of more servers.

 

The real-time billing engine in the PortaBilling Oracularius is compatible with telecommunication networking equipment like TDM and VoIP including NexTone (News - Alert). These provide user authorization, flexible call routing and CDR mediation and rating.

 

The integration is made easy with third-party systems via XML API. It is built on Oracle Enterprise Linux server architecture and is pre-integrated with PortaOne’s PortaSIP (class 4/5 softswitch). This enables rapid standards-based implementation, besides PortaOne’s PortaUM Unified Messaging System and PortaBridge conferencing server for residential and SMB-hosted IPPBX/Centrex.

 

PortaBilling Oracularius offers an unlimited perpetual license so that users can expand operations without renegotiating their custom support platform. Users can save a lot as all Oracle licenses are included and separate licensing is not required.

 

PortaOne supplies carrier grade software for Internet Telephony (News - Alert) Service Providers (ITSP) allowing ITSPs to offer several telecommunication services included in one software package. The company provides a complete package for ITSP encompassing converged VoIP billing and provisioning platform, class 4 and 5 SIP softswitch, unified messaging and conferencing applications and IPPBX software among others.

 

Business Clients of PortaOne benefit from the traffic exchange and wholesale trunking, hosted IP PBX and Centrex. Residential customers are provided with telephony services with Vonage (News - Alert) or Skype-like features, prepaid calling cards, call shop chains and callback services.

The company’s billing and softswitch products are SIP and RADIUS based and compatible with equipment vendors like Cisco, Quintum and NexTone. The converged billing system can process prepaid and postpaid charges for voice or video calls, Internet connectivity, IPTV service, Wi-Fi access, data transfers or one-time events like sending SMS or renting a pay-per-view movie.
