Orange Business Services, France Telecom Group’s division for worldwide enterprise communications services, and PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TELKOM), an Indonesian telecommunications and network services provider, have entered into a partnership to provide advanced network services including IP VPN to Indonesian and multinational enterprises.

Orange officials, while disclosing this, said the company has also appointed TELKOM (News - Alert) as a distributor of its global network services to meet the needs of TELKOM customers who are expanding in international markets.

Officials believe that these advanced IP VPN services will enable local and multinational companies in Indonesia to enhance business performance and increase competitiveness in the face of today’s challenging economic climate.

The partnership is also expected to help enterprise customers to consolidate their voice, data and application traffic onto a single network as well as implement Orange business communications applications to improve operational efficiency.

“Orange Business Services (News - Alert) has the broadest network coverage of any telecommunications provider worldwide,” said Yee-May Leong, senior vice president, Asia Pacific, Orange Business Services, in a statement.

Leong said the company is focused on delivering innovative communications services that enable the enterprise customers to meet today’s urgent business priority to increase productivity, improve efficiency and reduce costs.

He added that the partnership with TELKOM gives the company the local capability in Indonesia to help enterprise customers create new business opportunities and find new markets.

“As the principal provider of telecommunications services in Indonesia, TELKOM is focused on expanding and improving our service capabilities in Indonesia,” said Rinaldi Firmansyah, CEO of PT Telekomunikasi (News - Alert) Indonesia.

Firmansyah said his company was pleased to partner Orange Business Services to deliver the sophisticated ICT solutions that companies in Indonesia need to remain globally competitive.

Furthermore, he feels this partnership will enhance the company’s product portfolio to provide its corporate customers more choices with more reliable services, and at the end, will give the company an opportunity to serve the customers better.

“Due to the demanding market, we will be always developing other services by establishing more alliances with our partner. We believe it will strengthen our position as the leading full network and services provider,” said Firmansyah.

TMCnet recently reported that The Kuoni Group, one of Europe’s leisure travel companies with headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, has signed a 5-year contract with Orange Business Services for pan-European managed IP Telephony and call center services.

According to Kuoni officials, the roll-out is slated to start in the U.K. and Switzerland, and will run over the next 18 months.

Officials say the company intends to unify and consolidate its telephony technology and PBX (News - Alert) systems across the countries in order to be more flexible and dynamic through virtualization.
