GENBAND Inc., a developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, and PAETEC Holding Corp., a provider of data, voice and Internet services to business-class customers in the United States, has announced the deployment of a GENBAND (News - Alert) trunking solution based on G9 Converged Gateways.

 

The deployment took place in PAETEC’s (News - Alert) San Francisco Bay Area market roll-out.

 

“GENBAND has been a long-term strategic partner in supporting our network growth and helping us move traffic from legacy switching infrastructure to next generation IP,” said Sanjay Hiranandani, Senior Vice President of Engineering at PAETEC.

“The Bay Area rollout represents our most recent market expansion and we value GENBAND’s ability to support our existing services and enable new applications with Advanced Routing and Transcoding capabilities,” Hiranandani said.

 

It’s designed to reduce the footprint, operating costs, and capital investment required to support the company’s existing voice infrastructure which includes both traditional TDM and enhanced IP based services, he added.

“The GENBAND solution, combined with our world class IP based data infrastructure enables us to deliver our broad suite of services in our expanded nationwide footprint which includes three new markets, San Francisco, Oakland , San Jose and Sacramento,” Hiranandani said.

A high-density, carrier-class trunking, access and signaling gateway, the G9 is purpose-built for use in mobile, fixed line and converged operators’ packet and circuit-switched networks. This gateway offers a flexible 28-slot chassis provides a low power, efficient card design that is positioned as being simple to maintain and operate. As a result, operators can easily add ports and IP session capacity.

The G9 offers many integrated features and functions that are designed to help reduce service provider costs through the limiting of new elements in the network. The gateway supports both mobile and fixed codecs, protocols and interfaces so that it can be the key network element in next generation solutions.
