Radware Targets Microsoft OCS R2 with Application Delivery Controller

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Radware, which provides integrated application delivery solutions, announced that AppDirector, its intelligent Application Delivery Controller, has been qualified in the Hardware Load Balancer program for the Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Communications Server 2007 R2 environment.

AppDirector combines the next-generation OnDemand Switch multi-gigabit hardware platform with the powerful capabilities of the company’s APSolute operating system “classifier” and “flow management” engine. The AppDirector enhances the delivery of applications over IP networks by bridging the gap between applications and the networks.

Officials say that by optimizing server infrastructure resources and enabling seamless consolidation and high scalability, AppDirector drives productivity and return on investment. Additionally, Radware’s (News - Alert) ‘pay-as-you-grow’ licensing model ensures long-term investment protection, facilitating incremental growth demanded by today’s business.

Managing traffic for both Web Services content and SIP-based Unified Communication services, AppDirector provides advanced health monitoring to avoid system downtime and advanced traffic management.

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 provides businesses with advanced collaboration and communications services - from instant messaging and VoIP to audio and video conferencing, officials said. To fully utilize this solution, IT managers must be able to ensure its continuous availability and to efficiently scale-up the solution to support a greater number of concurrent users and higher levels of capacity, driven by the bandwidth-intensive applications and services.

To solve this challenge, Radware’s AppDirector offers full communication services availability. The advanced health-monitoring algorithms detect communications failure in real-time and automatically redirects users to an available resource.

Further, AppDirector accelerates Microsoft’s UC performance and improves the Quality of Experience through advanced load balancing. AppDirector redirects users to the least loaded, best performing server; thereby ensuring fast response time to all users at all times.

Radware’s OnDemand Switch hardware platform allows organizations to scale up their Office Communications Server 2007 R2-based services to support more users and greater traffic throughput without any physical forklift upgrade.

“Radware has a solution to help customers maximize the next-generation communication services in Office Communications Server 2007 R2,” said Jamie Stark, senior technical product manager at Microsoft in a statement. “By supporting Office Communications Server 2007 R2 availability and ongoing scalability, Radware helps customers achieve productivity goals, streamline communications and provide operational flexibility and control.”

According to Yossi Vardi, vice president Global Business Development at Radware, AppDirector ensures that all different communications services are ready to serve the end-user; thereby reducing OPEX (News - Alert) by eliminating costly downtime and improving productivity through uninterrupted communications services.
