Siemon has released an upgrade to its MapIT intelligent infrastructure management solution, the MapIT G2 (News - Alert). The new and upgraded MapIT G2 will combine Smart Patch Panels, user-friendly Master Control Panels and MapIT software to offer real-time tracking and reporting of network wide physical layer activity.
Siemon deals in the manufacture and innovation of high quality, high-performance network cabling solutions.
According to Siemon (News - Alert), the MapIT G2 gives clients complete visibility and control of their entire physical layer network – from their corporate data center to a small branch office halfway around the world – and everything in between. Through the combination of MapIT software and innovative smart connectivity, users can monitor every channel in real time, centrally managing even the most widespread network assets.
The solution’s patch panels and fiber enclosures has a built-in onboard LCD panel through which status, diagnostics and dynamic label information can be read. The information are calculated with a higher degree of intelligence and offers more detailed instructions to technicians unlike simple LEDs or traditional non-intelligent panels.
The MapIT G2’s LCD equipped Control Panels and Smart Patch panels can also be used to view the hierarchical layout of the entire network from rack and cabinet infrastructure views, to work area and floor layouts – all with complete circuit diagrams, including active equipment.
The MapIT G2 Master Control Panel collects all network infrastructure data provided by the Smart Patch Panels and Fiber enclosures, monitoring up to 2880 ports in just one rack mount space. All network information is stored in a MapIT database, which is automatically updated in real time as moves and changes are made, ensuring that the network condition is known at all times.
Siemon claims that the combination of MapIT G2 patching and MCP enables 80 percent higher density than competing systems, providing a huge reduction in the amount of critical and expensive data center rack/cabinet and floor space. For example, common IIM systems can require up to 60U of equipment to manage 20,000 ports. MapIT G2 can manage the same 20,000 ports in just 7U.
Siemon has stated that MapIT G2 provides a host of physical layer management capabilities to help arrange an organization’s network for peak performance and tools to make sure it stays that way.
Available in Category 6A shielded and unshielded and Category 6, or Class E, unshielded as well as singlemode and multimode 10Gb/s optical fiber, the MapIT G2 system is fully scalable. It can handle networks from 24 ports to 65,000 ports in a single patching field, making it equally effective managing a massive data center or a widespread network of small remote sites.
Siemon had launched a brief online video demonstrating their innovative Z-MAX(TM) 6A outlet termination process.
