Technology Marketing Corporation’s INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine recently awarded Telchemy’s SQlive IPTV performance monitoring software with 2009 IPTV Excellence Award.

Telchemy (News - Alert) Incorporated is a provider of voice and video IP performance management technologies. Some of its service quality monitoring and analysis software products include SQlive, VQmon, DVQattest, and SQmediator.

Telchemy’s SQlive, which won the INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine Excellence Award, is a performance monitoring software application for IPTV, IP Videoconferencing and Voice over IP. It is based on company’s VQmon/HD performance analysis technology and can be directly integrated or installed into a wide range of end system and customer premises equipment, including IPTV set-top boxes and home gateways.

Providing service providers with real time feedback on service quality, subscriber experience and subscriber viewing activity, the SQlive is a compact (<500 KB code size) "drop-in" application and requires very less CPU overhead, thereby making it ideal for use in set-top boxes with minimal software integration.

"SQlive gives service providers deep insight into service quality, network problems, head-end issues and subscriber viewing activity," Alan Clark (News - Alert), CEO and president at Telchemy, said in a statement.

Telchemy officials said that SQlive non-intrusively monitors RTP and MPEG-2 Transport media streams, automatically detecting frame structure and stream properties such as codec type, image size, and frame rate. It generates real-time Mean Opinion and a rich set of diagnostic information.

According to Telchemy, SQlive's passive monitoring technology provides round-the clock real-time feedback on video quality and network performance without increasing network load. It can measure the performance of both encrypted, as well as unencrypted IP Video streams. The company’s VQmon/HD IP video assessment technology helps in analyzing scrambled and unscrambled IPTV streams that are carried over MPEG Transport or RTP.

Apart from detecting Group of Pictures frame structure and identifying I, B, and P frames, the SQlive can calculate the impact of packet loss/discard on each frame type. It performs high-level content analysis as well as calculates impact of impairments on perceptual quality of content that are being viewed. It also supports a wide range of video & audio codecs and transport protocols.

According to TMC (News - Alert), the second annual INTERNET TELEPHONY IPTV Excellence Award recognizes companies that have made advancements in their IPTV solutions and have improved their clients’ business. 

“The IPTV Excellence Award was created to acknowledge companies for their contributions to the growth and innovation in the IPTV market,” said Erik Linask (News - Alert), group editorial director, TMC, in a statement. “Only the companies who demonstrated the most exceptional solutions were considered worthy of the 2009 IPTV Excellence Award.”
