MBO and 180SQUARED Release Cirrus Managed Cloud Solutions

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Cirrus Managed Cloud Solutions released by MBO Video and 180SQUARED is claimed to be the world’s first IPTV (News - Alert) Managed Cloud Service. The solution allows multiple entities to share an IPTV Middleware platform installation and also keep a secure, autonomous environment for each individual entity’s back-end systems and customized offering.

MBO Video is a privately held company whose Carrier Ethernet redundant network spans across four states and 180SQUARED offers integration framework to maximize the profitability of IPTV services for service providers.

Gene Baldwin of MBO Video has commented that by sharing the infrastructure and costs, IPTV becomes a much more viable and competitive product offering and they recognized the business potential of IPTV, and are eager to supply service providers and other entities, such as hotels and hospitality providers, economies of scale for more robust video solutions. The Cirrus solution is based on the 180SQUARED’s v.Unison (News - Alert) solution set and this allows the MBO to offer the ability to share IPTV offerings with other entities simply and efficiently.

v.Unison, a solution set of v.Orchestra products and Quantum (News - Alert) Site Technology, enables a shared installation of an IPTV Middleware platform among multiple service providers or entities, while maintaining a secure, autonomous environment for each individual entity’s back-end systems and customized offerings.

180SQUARED has stated that by sharing the infrastructure companies can reduce the cost of deploying IPTV and the new Cirrus solution will also help MBO in speeding ROI and increasing revenue potential.

According to the companies, the Cirrus Managed Cloud Solution is based on Microsoft (News - Alert) Mediaroom and enables providers to offer applications designed to differentiate their IPTV service, such as onscreen Caller ID, remote PVR scheduling, and Whole Home PVR.

Mark Cooper, chairman and chief technology officer of 180SQUARED, added that v.Unison and MBO’s new Cirrus Managed Cloud solutions are just one example of the opportunities 180SQUARED is creating through their focus on simplifying IPTV network integration and management. They have created a set of IPTV building blocks such as v.Orchestra which they can work with service providers to assemble into new IPTV-related offerings that reduce the time and costs of IPTV deployment and maximize IPTV revenue potential.

SureWest (News - Alert), RTC recently deployed 180SQUARED’s v.Allegro to support IPTV service offerings and Microsoft Mediaroom alumni launched Mediaroom in a Box solution.
