Voltaire, a provider of scale-out computing fabrics for data centers, high performance computing and cloud environments, has announced that its scale-out Ethernet, 40 Gb/s InfiniBand director switches and UFM software have been integrated to the HP Unified Cluster portfolio.
The HP Unified Cluster Portfolio is a comprehensive, modular package of tested and pre-configured hardware, software and services for scalable computation, data management and visualization. This addition of Voltaire products into the HP portfolio will allow customers to receive designing clouds, large HPC systems and next-generation, virtualized data centers, a choice of networking and management options that deliver scalability and performance in an efficient, cost-effective manner.
Ronnie Kenneth, CEO and chairman of Voltaire, said that HP’s decision to make its networking solutions available through the unified cluster portfolio is further confirmation of the unique capabilities these products bring to scale-out data centers and HPC.
Users designing scale-out computing environments require advanced switches that can efficiently scale up to thousands of servers. Voltaire’s 10 GbE and 40 Gb/s InfiniBand switches -- coupled with HP scale-out servers, storage, edge switches and middleware -- will offer a technology infrastructure that can easily process demanding computing applications.
The InfiniBand is a high-performance, switched-fabric interconnect standard for servers and Voltaire has said that its InfiniBand interconnects eliminate I/O bottlenecks, allowing HPC applications to run faster and more efficiently.
The company has stated that its newly released Grid Director 4700, a 40 Gb/s QDR InfiniBand director switch, will be available from HP. The Voltaire QDR InfiniBand Grid Director 4700 is a director-class switch that features 324 ports of 40 Gb/s InfiniBand connectivity in a 19U chassis and between 100 and 300 nanoseconds of port-to-port latency.
When used in combination with the company’s Unified Fabric Manager, a platform for managing demanding scale-out computing environments, these grid director switches vastly improve the performance of mission-critical applications. They are also capable of addressing the growing size and complexities of clusters by providing high interconnect bandwidth, advanced carrier-class management and unlimited scalability.
Voltaire has said that the Voltaire Vantage 8500, Grid Director 4700 and UFM software, as well as its complete portfolio of 20 and 40 Gb/s switches, are all available from HP.
Voltaire recently unveiled 40 Gb/s InfiniBand switch module for IBM (News - Alert) BladeCenter and their unified fabric on SGI Altix supercomputers powered-up HLRN supercomputer.
