Many applications found on iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod are merely fancy, whimsical time-killers. But there are some applications that really provide a value-add to users by helping them save money.
Recently, Truphone provided one such application to the users of iPhone and iPod touch applications wherein they can make and receive free international calls. The company brought this application through its partnership with Voxbone, provider of free +883 iNum numbers.
Truphone (News - Alert) provides borderless mobile phone services that reduce the cost of roaming and international calling. The company mainly offers mobile communications for people and businesses that live and work internationally with its GSM mobile service Truphone Local Anywhere service.
When users sign up for iPhone and iPod touch devices, Truphone assigns individual iNum freephone numbers to them with this new agreement. This new partnership allows the customers to make and receive free mobile VoIP calls via other iNum service providers. This includes Gizmo5 (News - Alert), Jajah, Rebtel and others.
“We continue to increase Truphone’s value to our users by giving them new and innovative ways to communicate,” said Karl Good, director of applications for Truphone. “For people with iPod touch devices, getting their own free iNum numbers means they can now talk to an even broader network of friends across Gizmo5, Jajah, Rebtel (News - Alert) and many others for free.”
This service comes as an addition to Truphone customers who can already make free calls to each other and to Skype and Google Talk users when both parties are connected to WiFi (News - Alert); and instant messaging to Skype, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and AIM communities.
Recently, the company launched Truphone Local Anywhere, a global GSM service that makes all calling truly local for businesses and consumers who travel frequently. The Truphone offering owes itself to the smart SIM card that provides mobile numbers and local rates for voice, data and text services for all countries where Truphone service is available on a single SIM.
