RealNetworks, Inc., digital entertainment services company and Sprint, which offers a comprehensive range of wireless and wireline communications services, reportedly have entered into an agreement to streamline the music-related offerings available on Sprint (News - Alert) phones into a user-friendly, unified, digital music storefront.

 

'Sprint is committed to allowing our customers easy access to the applications, services and features they want most on their Sprint devices,' Len Barlik, vice president, wireless and wireline services, Sprint, said in a statement.

 

Barlik said that this relationship with RealNetworks (News - Alert) lets company give Sprint customers an easy-to-use option to find, purchase and manage the music-related content they want on their phones in a more convenient, intuitive way.

 

Officials with Real said that the company will leverage its end-to-end Media Entertainment Platform to manage, administer, market and deliver Sprint's digital music content, initially including full-tracks, ringtones and ringback tones.

 

The company officials said that the end result will be a rich shopping experience for Sprint customers and increased efficiency for Sprint.

 

'Sprint has always demonstrated a dedication to providing its customers with convenience and choice in accessing the content they want on their phones,' Vern Poyner, senior vice president, technology products and solutions, RealNetworks, said.

 

Poyner said that the company’s media entertainment platform will extend the integrated, user-friendly experience that Sprint offers, providing subscribers with a convenient choice in how they access music on the go.

 

Recently Sprint announced a partnership with GetJar, the world's second largest app store. Through this agreement, GetJar's catalog of more than 60,000 free applications will now be available to all Sprint customers with feature phones such as the LG Lotus Elite, Samsung (News - Alert) Reclaim and the Sanyo 2700.

 

In addition, Sprint customers with RIM BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Windows Mobile devices also will have access to the GetJar library of applications.
