Go Daddy has introduced its Mac Hosting solution, Cloud Server powered by Mac OS X. The new virtual dedicated servers provide the power of a dedicated Mac OS X server for a fraction of the cost.
The Go Daddy Mac OS X server gives customers everything they need without being an IT administrator. Go Daddy’s technical staff supplies the support to keep the server up and running. Hence, customers are able to manage a number of native Mac OS X Server applications such as Mail Services, Hosting, iChat Server, Wiki Server and iCal Server. Users and applications are managed via a Mac interface. The open architecture of the Go Daddy Mac OS X server allows companies with Mac and Windows users to connect to the server.
Go Daddy Web hosting plans are all backed by 24/7 customer care. The plans range depending on the size of the company or project. It is also possible for customers to choose how much RAM (News - Alert), storage and bandwidth they want depending on their server needs. The flexibility of the plans enables customer to upgrade at a later date, if required.
According to Jack Zubarev, President of the Service Provider Division at Parallels, there is considerable demand for Mac OS X-based cloud services as Apple (News - Alert) is reporting a 33 percent year-on-year increase in sales of Macintosh computers. Zubarev added that Parallels is pleased to work with Go Daddy to help it meet this demand and launch the Mac OS X cloud services based on Parallels Server for Mac Bare Metal Edition.
In a release, Bob Parsons (News - Alert), CEO and founder of Go Daddy, said offering Mac OS X hosting provides customers the ability to use an Apple server without spending a lot of money. Parsons noted that it is the partnership with Apple and Parallels that made this happen. Based on Apple’s enterprise-class Xserve and Parallels technology, the service provides the usability of Apple with the reliability of Go Daddy hosting. Go Daddy provides a variety of domain name registration plans and Web site design and hosting packages, as well as an array of on-demand services. These include products such as SSL Certificates, Domains by Proxy private registration, ecommerce Web site hosting, blog templates and blog software, podcast packages and online photo hosting.
