Spanlink Earns Cisco Master Unified Communications Specialization Designation

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Spanlink (News - Alert) Communications is the fourth US-based Cisco partner to achieve the Master Unified Communications Specialization designation. The company, a provider of contact center and business communications solutions based on VoIP technology made the announcement today. This designation recognizes Spanlink for its investment in the training and personnel requirements to meet the growing global demand for highly sophisticated, applications-based unified communications solutions.

“This achievement demonstrates Spanlink’s wide range of technical skills that go well beyond contact center technologies,” said Brett Shockley, CEO of Spanlink Communications, in a Monday statement. “It reflects our investment in our customers and a proven track record for providing complete unified communications solutions that transform the way companies communicate, internally and with their customers, for dramatic improvements in their business.”

“To help turn the promise of unified communications into a strategic advantage, customers are demanding an enhanced set of skills and capabilities from channel partners,” said Richard McLeod, director of Unified Communications (News - Alert) for Worldwide Channels at Cisco, in Monday’s statement. “The Master Unified Communications Specialization validates and rewards Cisco channel partners like Spanlink for developing solution centric practices around unified communications.”

The Master Unified Communications Specialization is designed to provide recognition for those elite channel partners who have the most in-depth technology skills built on a track record of customer success in selling, deploying and supporting sophisticated Cisco Unified Communication solutions.

In order to achieve this specialization, channel partners are required to first attain the Advanced Unified Communications Specialization. Channel partners must then meet a series of stringent requirements in three categories: Technology Capabilities, Sales Expertise, and Lifecycle Services.

Channel partners must also possess a number of Cisco and industry-standard technical certification requirements that include a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (News - Alert) (CCIE) certification in voice. The partner must also demonstrate the capability to integrate multiple, unified communications solutions through five customer references and show evidence that they have the infrastructure to support a full menu of Lifecycle Service offerings and capabilities with emphasis on Day 2 support and optimization services.

More information regarding the Master Unified Communications Specialization can be found at: www.cisco.com/web/partners/program/specializations/ucom/master/ index.html.

Channel partners are recognized for the value they deliver to customers through the Cisco Channel Partner Program. Select, Premier, Silver and Gold certifications represent integrated technology breadth; SMB, Express, Advanced and Master specializations represent technology skills depth.

With this certification recognition, Spanlink is well positioned to advance its own initiatives in competitive situations. Cisco-certification carries a great deal of weight and is something that most competitors will not be able to boast. What’s more, the company may well be able to increase its margins as a result of this designation and better its financial position while also gaining more of the market.
