CACI Gets High Bandwith Connectivity Solutions from AboveNet

By Raja Singh Chaudhary, TMCnet Contributor

AboveNet, Inc., a provider of high bandwidth connectivity solutions for businesses and carriers, has announced that the company has successfully deployed fiber optic infrastructure solutions for CACI International Inc, a company that offers professional services and IT solutions in the defense, intelligence, homeland security and federal civilian government arenas. The new deployment will support new corporate facilities in Virginia. AboveNet’s private optical network delivers key network and IP services, and is widely used in various markets such as financial services, media, health care, retail and government.

CACI provides enterprise IT and network services; data, information, and knowledge management services; business system solutions; logistics and material readiness; C4ISR integration services; cyber solutions; integrated security and intelligence solutions; and program management and SETA support services to its customers.

The high bandwidth connectivity solutions provided by AboveNet to CACI will help the company in linking its new employee campus and data center with other CACI locations in the Washington, D.C. Metro Region. CACI required reliable, low latency high bandwidth connectivity that could support the full range of the company's mission-critical business data communications needs. The network was installed by AboveNet within a period of 100 days, meeting CACI's deadline for the deployment. It helped the company make sure that its 1,000 employees could be smoothly moved to the new campus and its 1,000 servers to a new data center.

According to Matt Johns, Director of Mid-Atlantic Sales at AboveNet, the company is very pleased by the opportunity to serve CACI, and looks forward to a long, productive relationship with this valued client. Johns noted that this highly successful project is illustrative of the work AboveNet performs consistently for all its customers, as businesses look to the company as the industry benchmark in providing high bandwidth connectivity solutions cost-effectively, on or ahead of schedule.

March 2010, AboveNet, Inc. launched a new low latency transatlantic service, which provided the industry with one of the fastest, end-to-end transatlantic connections between London and New York. The company said that key financial locations that are going to gain from this service are: London- Slough, The City and Docklands-- New York Metro- Manhattan and New Jersey, including Newark, Weehawken, Secaucus, Carteret, and Clifton. While the same month, Space and Naval Warfare or ‘SPAWAR’ Systems Center Atlantic awarded a $219 million prime contract to CACI International Inc. to provide command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance or ‘C4ISR’ and business IT software and maintenance services.
