Ascom Wireless Solutions Adds VoIP to its teleCARE IP Solution

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

The teleCARE IP solution from Ascom (News - Alert) Wireless will now have VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) facility. The teleCARE IP solution has been established in various hospitals across the world, states Ascom Wireless.

More and more hospitals are realizing the need for quicker response and better communication. Immediate notification for a quicker response to key personnel can be the difference between life and death. Ascom solutions enable customers to benefit from increased efficiency, productivity and security as they designed are for demanding workplace environments and customized to ensure optimal mobility and workflow efficiency, claims Ascom.

In an ideal hospital or care home environment, communication between staff and from staff to patients or residents is carried out on the move. Ascom DECT (News - Alert) or VoWiFi handsets allows the hospital staff or the caregivers to do the same. With the help of VoIP and SIP clients, all communication is done over the LAN.

In a release, Jan Ringenier, product manager at Ascom said "The new VoIP solution delivers practical functions direct to those who need them most. For example, nurses can use Direct Call In, noise-triggered Acoustic Monitoring and a Listen-In function to discreetly monitor and talk to their patients. With the new voice functionality, communication can be maintained without the nurse having to physically visit a room."

Using VoIP, the healthcare sector can route phone calls over existing data networks to reduce communication and infrastructure expenses. This avoids duplicate network systems and allows for the reuse of existing infrastructure. This reduces the client's investment burden as well as contributing to the creation of a leaner, more cost effective working environment, claims Ascom.
