Verimatrix (News - Alert), a dealer in software-based pay-TV content security, announced that the IPWorldTV delivery platform secured by Verimatrix has been deployed by OnKast to offer both local/ethnic and mainstream international content.
IPWorldTV's platform can deliver high-quality content to any location without network congestion and packet loss issues otherwise associated with unmanaged networks by using the DVB-IP standard and it implements a proprietary quality of service (QoS) technology that can enable a true television experience over the Internet.
OnKast's consumers can receive content in standard and high definition using the IPWorldTV platform. The VCAS for IPTV (News - Alert) from Verimatrix was selected to secure real-time video and audio streaming over the network and is integrated with the subscriber management system (SMS) from MagnaQuest (News - Alert). VCAS for IPTV provides a more sophisticated level of content security than traditional smart card-based systems for service providers, content aggregators and resellers that must secure revenue on their IP networks for live broadcast and video-on-demand content.
A downloadable security system for IPTV clients is more secure and enables less expensive set-top box or client device hardware and renewable security software can be updated as required to combat piracy attacks. VCAS enables complete transparency for legitimate content consumption while significantly raising the level of protection against content piracy.
Hanz Kraft, senior director of Content Acquisition at OnKast has commented that as an alternative video delivery service, they needed a cost-effective solution and competitive price point to attract subscribers. The IPWorldTV platform offers a turnkey solution for delivering very high quality content, without any major infrastructure investment, to anywhere in the world. Verimatrix's IP-based software security solution is perfectly aligned with IPWorldTV's value proposition. They are pleased that Verimatrix lived up to its reputation in the market by working with them to provide a bullet-proof security solution.
Max Pekcan, COO of IPWorldTV said they are thrilled to be working with Verimatrix to offer ultimate flexibility for operators to deliver their content over the Internet, securely, anywhere in the world. Their rapid growth is evidence of the demand for alternative video delivery services and they are satisfying that demand with their platform and multiple service operators.
Steve Oetegenn (News - Alert), chief sales and marketing officer at Verimatrix said the growth of IPWorldTV is a clear indicator video delivery models are rapidly changing. They have built their security solutions to be flexible and scalable, which allows them to more easily meet evolving operator needs on any type of network to any device.
