Geos Communications Picks Agito's RoamAnywhere to Offer New Mobile UC Services

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Enterprise mobility solution provider Agito Networks Inc. has announced that Geos Communications, Inc., a developer and distributor of mobile applications and services, has deployed 15,000 of the company's RoamAnywhere Mobility Router in its data center.

Andy Berman, CEO at Geos Communications, said, 'Our growing customer base told us they needed to reduce international roaming charges, while extending mobile UC capabilities across their BlackBerry (News - Alert) and other smartphone platforms.'

Geos Communications, Inc. has been offering products and applications that support the mobility of enterprises, small-to-medium businesses "SMBs" and consumers. With the deployment of Agito's RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, Geos is now able to offer new mobile unified communications "UC" services to its growing customer base.

In precise, Geos Communications, with the help of Agito's RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, has unveiled a new product called MyGlobalTalk ROVE, which is integrating its MyGlobalTalk VoIP service with mobile UC functionality on its customers' array of smartphones, including Research In Motion's BlackBerry and Apple iPhone (News - Alert).

TMCnet reported in one of its news that a mutual marketing and distribution agreement was signed between Geos Communication and Agito Networks (News - Alert) for the new smartphone application.

Berman added, 'With Agito, we are offering a mobile UC solution that delivers UC capabilities and PBX features for customers in one client, while saving them money domestically and internationally by handing off calls between WiFi (News - Alert), cellular and 3G networks. Today we are including the Agito-based solution with new proposals, and its functionality will allow us to enter into new markets down the road.'

Berman said in the release that Geos had conducted a research on the advances in the enterprise FMC/mobile UC industry, and selected three of the leading solutions to test. After the evaluation, Geos felt that Agito had a significant lead over the competition. Agito was an easy choice because its VC backers are solid, and also has a good growing customer base.

According to Agito Networks, its RoamAnywhere Mobility Router augments UC, PBX and deskphone features to mobile phones, and at the same time offers handover between WiFi, 3G and cellular networks. The router moves mobile users' calls when away from WiFi coverage to 3G cellular data networks which are paid as a flat rate, keeping callers away from costly cellular networks and rates. In addition, this also improves in building coverage.

Agito says its RoamAnywhere delivers a mobile UC product with high availability, redundancy, security, enterprise scalability, and broadest IP-PBX and mobile handset support, such as VoIP support for the Apple (News - Alert) iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and RIM BlackBerry smartphones.

In addition, RoamAnywhere works with all cellular networks, and natively integrates with enterprises' existing equipment, such as WLAN infrastructure and directory stores.

'Integrating Geos' MyGlobalTalk VoIP application with the Agito platform is an exciting application of RoamAnywhere's industry leading mobile UC functionalities,' said Amit Chawla, CEO at Agito Networks.
