OKI (News - Alert) Electric Industry, a provider of telecommunications products, technologies, and solutions, has announced that OKI Network Integration, its group company which takes care of network integration for triple play, has begun to ship version 2 of its "Web Sensing" environmental information collection service to the Japanese market.
The new version of the Web Sensing by OKI provides a number of enhanced features and coincides with the implementation of the Revised Energy Conservation Law in April 2010.
Not only does the service comprehensively comply with the Revised Energy Conservation Law, it also enables customers to share, monitor, and evaluate and visualize relevant environmental information regarding their buildings, so that they can carry out optimal environmental management.
As the awareness about environmental issues such as global warming has been increasing on a global level, newer environmentally related legislations are being put in place in every part of the world, such as the Revised Energy Conservation Law. Local authorities are also taking necessary steps to make proactive efforts towards conservation of the environment, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government recently decided to take action against global warming.
In the lines of these regulations and legislations, the businesses have to implement specific environmental initiatives that encompass the visualization, measurement, and evaluation of environmental information and CO2 reductions.
The 'Web Sensing' service by OKI Network Integration helps the users in measuring energy usage rates that are collected for each location against parameters set by users, such as floor area and production output. It provides them with a precise grasp of energy efficiency pertaining to each location, enabling them to concentrate energy-saving activities on locations with low energy efficiency.
It also features a number of analytical tools that help the users in comprehensive analysis of data collected from each location in greater depth and detail, so that they can carry out accurate planning and implement more specific energy-saving measures.
According to Hideyuki Tsuji, general manager of Business Development Division at OKINET, the previous version of 'Web Sensing' measured environmental information such as power and gas use at offices and stores, and required the installation of dedicated equipment.
Tsuji noted that the new version of the service offers features that allow users to enter energy information via a management screen and record and store measurement data without dedicated equipment at locations with relatively low energy consumption.
Back in September 2009, OKI Electric Industry announced to launch the 'Web Sensing' service to the Japanese market. The service measures and collects environment information, such as temperature, humidity and electric energy usage, from the office with sensor networks, and then sorts the data on a server via Internet.
