Junta Telecom, a provider of voice and data services in the North of Brazil, has decided to replace its existing telephony solution with a more robust, carrier grade scalable offering.

 

It has selected VocalTec's (News - Alert) suite of VoIP products for the evolution of its class-5 and IP-Centrex VoIP network. VocalTec communications Ltd., a global provider of VoIP and Convergence (News - Alert) solutions for fixed and wireless communication service providers, made an announcement to this effect.

VocalTec's Essentra BAX Application Server helps service providers take advantage of evolving IP opportunities, by providing an efficient solution for delivering broadband VoIP services with the capacity to scale by large numbers.

 

Apart from an innovative in-memory data-grid technology, Essentra BAX offers continuous availability and also advanced services such as video calling, calling-card and pre-paid services. Designed for deployment in Brazil, the VocalTec solution provides full regulatory compliance and meets local requirements for Number Portability services.

In a related news release, Cisco Systems (News - Alert) Inc. and VocalTec Communications Ltd. announced that the two companies are developing interoperability between their IP telephony solutions based on the International Telecommunications Union H.323 Version 2 international standard.
