While the potential advantages of video conferencing are appealing, the technology has not been implemented in more than a handful of organizations. This is likely to change in the future as video conferencing moves to the desktop. RHUB Communications, Inc., the company in real-time collaboration appliances, has entered into an agreement with Hitachi, Ltd that enables the global information and communication leader to incorporate RHUB (News - Alert) products and technology into NetCS-HD, Hitachi’s personal tele-presence offering.
With RHUB TurboMeeting, Hitachi, will deliver multi–point web conferencing to desktops over converged IP networks. Toru Ishikawa, manager, Hitachi (News - Alert), Ltd. said that the company has developed products – RHUB’s including TurboMeeting technology – that offer customers an integrated data sharing communication and IP telephony solution. He said that the company is committed to delivering high quality conferencing solutions for enterprise markets, and with RHUB’s technology, the company has built a web conferencing solution which provides the image quality and performance that gives them a leading position in this competitive market.
Hitachi has taken advantage of RHUB’s embedded server conferencing architecture which enables the easy incorporation of web conferences into other applications. RHUB’s extensive set of APIs provides to integrate – including the user interface – saving time and engineering effort.
Larry Dorie, CEO of RHUB, said that the company has witnessed dramatically increased interest among unified communications vendors regarding adoption of its technology, and Hitachi´s choice of TurboMeeting is strong validation of its robustness and ease of integration.
RHUB has expended considerable engineering effort to ensure that the lightweight server architecture provides the capacity and performance for demanding applications while consuming minimal computing resources. In a related matter, TMCnet reported recently that RHUB supplied TurboMeeting technology to Hitachi.
