Carousel Closes Acquisition of Juma Technology

By Narayan Bhat, TMCnet Contributor

Carousel Industries announced Monday that it has closed the purchase of Juma Technology, whose acquisition it had announced in February.

Juma Technology (News - Alert) is an Avaya Business Partner and a business unit of the publicly traded Juma. It has approximately 350 customers and offices in Farmingdale, Long Island and New York City.

Exeter, RI-based Carousel has not yet revealed how much it paid for the acquisition.

The acquisition has certainly increased Carousel’s footprint in the northeastern United States and also bolstered its engineering staff with additional talent.

"This acquisition not only significantly expands our geographic reach in our core areas of expertise, but also increases the strength of our engineering team, since we are bringing on some extremely talented industry veterans who are very well versed in IP telephony and unified communications,” claimed Jeff Gardner, chief executive officer of Carousel Industries.

Founded in 1992, Carousel grew an average of 30 to 50 percent year-on-year, and in 2010 it reported a turnover of $200 million. With over 850 employees working from offices in 23 locations across the U.S., it appears to be in a buying spree.

Juma Technology is the sixth acquisition by Carousel in the last two years. It has already bought Westwood, Mass.-based TAC Centre and signed a letter of intent to acquire Marlborough, Mass.-based OmniPresence. Last year, the company acquired Atlanta-based LANForce Consulting Group, assets from Canton, Mass.-based TriNET Systems (News - Alert) and Canada-based BrantTel Networks.

Juma Technology started off in 2002 by designing and selling converged solutions as soon as they began to appear on the market. The company has been able to develop special expertise implementing convergence solutions across a range of vertical markets including retail, healthcare, education and financial.

Carousel Industries’ area of operation includes unified communications, virtualization, VoIP, video conferencing, collaboration and data infrastructure solutions.
