inetwork has announced the launch of a developer challenge aimed to discover the next disruptive voice and messaging application.

A division of Bandwidth, inetwork delivers innovative and scalable voice, 9-1-1 and SMS solutions. Its developer challenge- The Voice App Igniter- targets developers creating the next groundbreaking idea for scalable voice or messaging applications.

Up to $600,000 in services is offered to either a single or multiple developers based on the entries received. Those interested to take up this challenge should visit The Voice App Igniter Tumblr site and submit a short video that explains a new way to use a phone number.

Developers should work toward an idea to create an application that can enable access to up to one million phone numbers and allow unlimited calling capabilities.

A panel of industry experts will judge all the submission of videos that will be accepted for review till November 26, 2012.

"We are excited to engage developers looking to do more than just sell a dial tone and help fuel their passion to pioneer applications that drive new demand in this growth segment," said Steve Leonard, executive vice president and general manager of inetwork.

The winner of The Voice App Igniter will be announced on December 3, 2012.
