Media integration company SMB Nation has honored SMB channel vendors who have made a difference for VARs, MSPs, and IT consultants through their commitment and efforts in the SMB IT space.

The company has announced the winners of its 1st Annual Hot Shot Awards contest and has recognized vendors in 11 different areas, including Backup and Disaster Recovery.

A panel of SMB channel experts reviewed the nominees that were registered during August 15, 2012 to September 15, 2012. The winner was decided based on the vendor's product diversity, uniqueness, ability to enhance the SMB industry, cost efficiency, ability to overcome technology obstacles, and impact on SMB IT solution provider operations.

Axcient, which develops a cloud-based storage and data protection platform, won the SMB Nation’s 1st Annual Hot Shot Awards in the BDR category.

FiberCloud stood first in Cloud/Virtualization category and Lenovo (News - Alert) was chosen as the winner for Hardware and Peripherals.

SMB Nation is targeted at the small and medium business (SMB) channel partner/reseller/consulting/VAR community. The company was in last month for publishing a review of Symform's service aimed at educating the SMB channel about the company's alternative and secure approach to cloud storage.
