From semiconductor processors to applications software and development platforms, the IP PBX (News - Alert) sector was once again lively and energetic with lots of announcements from a number of suppliers in this market.

While the demand for VoIP solutions is fast rising in the enterprise world, it is also a power hungry solution that is pushing upward the carbon footprint of a company. Hence, the the need for green VoIP processors that feature low power consumption has subsequently increased, wrote TMCnet contributor Jayashree Adkoli. Towards that goal, reported Adkoli, power management semiconductor supplier Dialog Semiconductor plc has readied a green VoIP processor chipset(SC14453) for high-end phones. As per the report, Dialog’s green VoIP processors can deliver excellent performance at lower clock frequencies, while consuming lowest power. In her column, TMC (News - Alert) executive editor Paula Bernier sheds light on Evolve IP’s virtual desktop solution, which is just the delivery of Windows desktops from the cloud. The executive editor quotes Evolve IP’s chief sales officer Tim Allen, as saying, “can be a way for channel partners to increase their income by selling the solution to existing hosted PBX customers.”

Likewise, contributing writer David Delony published a statement made by cloud communication services provider Digerati on its value added reseller (VAR) strategy. The statement read, “Digerati's platform and global network provides its VAR partners with innovative cloud telephony functionality that allows their customers to communicate cost-effectively on a global scale.”

“With a robust carrier-class network built over the course of a decade and over 200 global partners, Digerati's infrastructure provides their VARs with clear pricing and call quality advantages to meet their customers' voice and video transport needs,” added Digerati.

Similarly, Cliff Rees, president of Telcentris, told executive editor Bernier, “Telcentris enables “truly universal communications” including fax, video, voice, chat, and links to sales force tools. Telcentris brands its offering VoxOx (News - Alert), which delivers what Rees said is “voice over anything over anything,” wrote Bernier.

TMCnet contributor Calvin Azuri reported the launch of 9202E IP Phone and System Software 7.4 by Allworx, a Windstream company. It is the latest addition to its impressive line IP phone products, wrote Azuri.

While the first prize was the “Prioritizer App,” enabling users to proactively prioritize the most important calls to be received for different situations, the second prize was the “Social Call Center,” a Facebook plug-in that enables voice access directly from a business's Facebook page. The third prize went to “iKanteen,” an application that works with Facebook to offer a directory of local service companies, black lists and birthday notifications.
