TMCnet IP PBX Community Week in Review

By Monica Gleberman, Contributing Writer

Internet Protocol Private branch exchange (IP PBX) has become a critical communications solution in many enterprises. Businesses have begun to take advantage of using an all-in-one business telephone system designed to deliver both voice and video over a data network.

This week, WUN Systems announced it would add additional features to its VOIP telephone system, including new integration services for the iPhone, Android (News - Alert) and other mobile devices. Madhubanti Rudra, a TMCnet Contributor, reported that WUN has decided to introduce new features for its mobile platforms.

WUN Voice Android edition will give users the ability to merge, transfer and switch between two calls. WUN Voice iPhone edition will now allow for video calling and messaging, and the iPad version will allow for multi-tasking functionality and stronger data encryption.

Dale Hersowitz, from WUN Systems, said these features were meant to help simplify the process while still maintaining all the functionality users need. “This new addition facilitates easy communication with an intuitive interface that includes all of the standard phone features such as call display, call history, voicemail indicator, and multiple call support,” said Hersowitz.

Razorsight (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of cloud-based analytics solutions for Communications Service Providers (CSP), decided to release an infographic which discusses the emerging revenues for the telecommunications industry called, $2 Trillion Reasons Why We Love Telecom.

Anamika Singh, TMCnet Contributor, reported on the bold statement from Razorsight that the “infographic reveals a lot about today’s telecom industry. It provides information if one wants to know the size of the world’s phone bill, if curious about which country takes the largest chunk of it and how many billions of dollars are lost in billing errors,” said Singh.

Razorsight’s CEO, Charlie Thomas (News - Alert), said releasing this data was important. “As the mobile telecom user base and ecosystem grows, the complexity of networks, systems, billing and managing data becomes overwhelming complex,” he said. “This is where Razorsight’s cloud based analytics tools add value to any CSP navigating this rapid sea change, controlling costs, improving margins, and maximizing return on network infrastructure and assets.”

Another company looking to implement new services is Mavenir Systems, who just completed its IR.92-compliant VoLTE interoperability testing (IOT) with the mobile device client called, Imagination’s HelloSoftV.VoIP and its IMS-based Converged Telephony Application Server.

TMCnet Contributor, Jyothi Shanbhag, reported that Mavenir is looking to deploy its new service later this year, reporting that Imagination said their HelloSoftV.VoIP SDK is “built to offer the most comprehensive multi-platform mobile device solutions to deliver the full range of two-way, real-time communications.”

Allan Johnson, general manager, HelloSoftV.VoIP at Imagination Technologies (News - Alert), said his company created a new SDK that is easy for OEM and ODM manufacturers to integrate. Terry McCabe, chief technology officer at Mavenir Systems, said using this technology will help give his clients more services they have requested. “We have responded to carriers’ needs for rapid commercial deployment of voice and messaging over LTE, and are very pleased to complete VoLTE-interoperability testing on a range of leading OEM devices.”

Lastly, Jacqueline Lee, Contributing Writer, reported that West IP Communications was named one of the country’s top VoIP providers. The company specializes in transitioning businesses to a cloud based service for its voice, network and collaboration services.

Robert Wise, Executive Vice President of West IP Communications, said it’s all about improving current business processes. “Our focus on operations and service excellence, coupled with the flexibility of our solutions, propelled our rise on the Infonetics (News - Alert) report,” said Wise. “While new vendors are entering the hosted provider market, our customers can be confident knowing they are working with a trusted partner with a long track record of helping organizations improve their business processes and achieve success.”

Lee reported that information released by Infonetics in April showed that the company’s revenue grew by 33 percent last year alone, which company officials credit to the bundle of services it offers for hosted VoIP and UC offerings.
