By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Parallels, a company specializing in hosting and cloud service enablement and desktop virtualization, has released the new version of hosting and cloud services delivery system, the Parallels Automation 5.4, which is used by telecom operators and hosts of vertical solutions.

The latest Parallels Automation 5.4 suite is built with rich features such as communications and collaboration features, including a full-featured virtual PBX (News - Alert) enablement solution for delivering hosted BroadSoft BroadWorks PBX and hosted Microsoft Lync services. These features are built specifically for small and medium businesses (SMBs) for hosted PBX and other cloud applications.

Big or small time hosts can easily launch much-needed hosted PBX services, bundled with business e-mail, instant messaging and other services. In addition, the new Automation 5.4 offers hosted Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync services, enabling the SMBs worldwide to use cloud-based messaging, collaboration and unified communications across desktops, laptops and mobile devices.

"Parallels Automation continues to be the platform of choice for service providers seeking to profit from the rapidly growing opportunity for delivering cloud services to SMBs," said Jack Zubarev, president of Parallels. "With the addition of hosted PBX, and Microsoft Lync, Parallels Automation is delivering even more opportunities for service providers to meet the diverse needs of SMBs."

Parallels predicts that the market for hosted communications and collaboration services will expand by 75 percent year-over-year growth in 2012 and would reach $2.5 billion by 2014.

“Parallels Automation continues to be a competitive differentiator for Apptix (News - Alert) and a key reason why blue chip channel partners are turning to Apptix to drive their cloud success," said Joy Nemitz, chief marketing officer, Apptix. "It provides a single platform for provisioning, management, and billing of all of our Cloud services and allows us to beat our competitors to market with new services and capabilities into the market -- such as Microsoft Lync."

Founded in 1999, Parallels has more than 800 employees in North America, Europe, and Asia.
