Here are some of the stories that made headlines this week.
 
Quebec, Canada-based Media5 Corporation (News - Alert) announced that its Media5-Fone SIP is now interoperable with pbxnsip’s award-winning SIP-based IP-PBX.
 
"Interoperability with pbxnsip’s SIP-based IP-PBX demonstrates Media5's flexibility and reliability in supporting leading-edge IP multimedia systems," said Samuel Guénette, General Manager of M5T. "As the market adoption for iPhone applications increases, developers are seeing real benefits in utilizing solutions that Interop (News - Alert) seamlessly."
 
Voiceserve, Inc. announced that its Voipswitch IP-PBX has been honored with the 2008 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award from Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC (News - Alert)). Last month, TMC had also recognized Voiceserve with its First Annual NGN Leadership Award.
 
Rich Tehrani, TMC President and Group Editor-in-Chief, commented, "Voipswitch has proven they are committed to quality and excellence in solutions that benefit the customer experience as well as ROI for the companies that use them. I am pleased to honor their hard work and accomplishments and look forward to more innovative solutions from them in the future."
 
Frontier Voice & Data, a telephony and data network services provider has reached an agreement with IP Cortex Ltd to supply its channel partners with the VoIPCortex IP-PBX solution. The solution provides full phone system functionality across an IP infrastructure.
 
Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) has reportedly completed its deployment of an Internet Protocol/ MultiProtocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) backbone transit network in France for Orange Business Services (OBS).
 
Unify Square has announced a new training program aimed to help enterprise customers understand what it takes to implement Microsoft (News - Alert) OCS Voice technology.
 
The Microsoft Unified Communications Voice Ignite course is scheduled to begin June 15, 2009 in Bellevue, Washington.
 
This course will feature a detailed overview of PBX Interoperability and Microsoft OCS 2007 Release 2. Additional courses are also scheduled throughout the year at various U.S. and international locations.
 
The last noteworthy IP PBX new is the SIP-based IP PBX software player pbxnsip today announced the launch of its new Leeds and London training suites.
