IP Telephony: SkyVision Selects Juniper Networks to Support Global Connectivity Expansion

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

SkyVision Global Networks LLC., an IP telecommunication service provider, upgraded and expanded its backbone, edge, and peering infrastructure using Juniper Networks M10i Multiservice Edge Routers and EX4200 Ethernet Switches.

SkyVision (News - Alert) operates a satellite and terrestrial fiber-optic network providing connectivity in more than 50 countries, which required a high-performance, carrier-class networking solution to meet continued demand and help support the rapid growth achieved over the last five years.

"Via our gateways in Europe, North America and the Middle East, we provide IP connectivity with access to the global Internet, as well as a worldwide extensive suite of customized end-to-end solutions and services such as Layer 2 VPLS and layer 3 VPN with complementary security services," said Adi Katz, vice president of engineering with SkyVision, in a statement.

Katz said that the company selected Juniper Networks (News - Alert) because it required a proven, feature-rich and scalable platform to stand as the backbone of the network, together with carrier-class availability and automated network operations.

“The Juniper solution also gives us the flexibility and agility to respond to rapid growth and change while protecting our investment," Katz said.

Mike Marcellin (News - Alert), vice president of product marketing and strategy of IPG for Juniper Networks, said that service providers need to provide anywhere-to-any-device connectivity to their customers quickly and securely, differentiating service to secure user loyalty.

Marcellin said that SkyVision is building a new network infrastructure with Juniper to advance the economics of the network while delivering superior user experience.

Officials with Juniper Networks said that the company’s M Series Multiservice Edge Routers employ a hardware-based approach built on a highly scalable, secure and reliable Junos operating system, enabling multiple services on a single IP/MPLS platform.

Company officials said that these features are designed to maximize revenue and minimize operational and capital costs for service providers by providing support for services such as network-based security, real-time voice and video, and bandwidth on demand.

According to company officials, Juniper Networks EX4200 Ethernet Switches deliver a carrier-class architecture allowing users to grow incrementally by using a common version of Junos across its routers and switches whilst system monitoring and maintenance are consolidated under a suite of unified management tools.
