Mindspeed Technologies (News - Alert), Inc, a noteworthy developer and supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, has announced that GENBAND (News - Alert) Corporation has included Mindspeed’s Comcerto series of voice-over-Internet protocol processors in production units of its G-Series VoIP gateway equipment.

 

The Comcerto series will enable GENBAND Corporation, a provider of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, to quickly and easily add media gateway functionality to wide variety of system platforms.

 

“The integration, scalability and modularity of the Comcerto processor line allows GENBAND to add media gateway functions to a variety of equipment with minimal redesign effort,” Keith Landau, chief product officer of GENBAND, said.

 

“We are very pleased to supply GENBAND with our complete Comcerto VoIP processing solutions, which GENBAND has integrated into their multipurpose media processing platforms for high-capacity trunking, access and IP transcoding services,” Tom Medrek, senior vice president and general manager of Mindspeed’s multiservice access business unit, said.

 

A wide variety of next-generation IP gateways, session border controllers and fixed mobile convergence security solutions is offered by GENBAND. The G-Series of the company includes the G9 Converged Gateway (News - Alert), G6 Universal Gateway and G2 Compact Gateway.

 

The G9 is a high-density, carrier-class trunking, access, signaling and IP gateway that is purpose-built for use in mobile, fixed-line and converged operators’ packet- and circuit-switched networks.

 

 The G6 is a carrier-class, mid-sized multipurpose gateway for highly reliable VoIP that also supports multiple IP service architectures and the G2 (News - Alert) Compact Gateway is a small, hardened gateway that is used for service provider and enterprise VoIP networks.

 

With integrated signaling and control processing for next-generation network carrier and enterprise applications, the Comcerto series of multi-core VoIP processors and carrier-class media stream processing software is able to deliver one of the industry’s most complete VoIP media gateway solutions.

 

The Comcerto Series processors, with a rich set of interfaces, voice codec options and packet-processing features, allow manufacturers to quickly and cost-effectively integrate VoIP-enabled T1/E1 and plain-old telephone service gateway functions into a broad variety of carrier and enterprise access equipment.

 

Available in a wide range of channel densities and common packages, the Comcerto devices operate with Mindspeed’s field-proven software. The solution helps customers to develop lower-density systems well suited to remotely deployed access equipment, as well as higher-density systems. Further it supports thousands of channels for core network applications and also offers a common set of industry-leading features and capabilities.

 

In related news, Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. has announced that Technology Marketing Corporation’s INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine has named Mindspeed’s Comcerto’s1000 packet processor as a recipient of the magazine’s 2009 Product of the Year Award.
