Dialogic Adds New IP Functionality to its Converged Services Platform

Dialogic (News - Alert) has added a host of new features as part of the firm’s ongoing efforts to enhance support for its next-generation applications and services on IP networks.


A global provider of products and technologies for media and signal processing, the Montreal-based firm said the new features have been added to the Dialogic Converged Services Platform (CSP (News - Alert)), including a host-based SIP stack for added design flexibility, and more robust media processing capabilities to support innovative IP-based applications and services such as voice and signaling services.

The move is expected to make the offering more flexible with the CSP delivering on Dialogic’s mission to provide open programmable architecture designed to meet the demands of a wide variety of communications services, over multiple types of networks, according to Jim Machi, senior vice president of Marketing at Dialogic.

“The CSP allows service providers to preserve their investment in today’s existing network infrastructure while at the same time allowing them to build and deploy next-generation IP-based applications and services,” said Machi.

The CSP provides application developers with both IP and PSTN connectivity, media processing functions, and call control signaling protocols, enabling them to implement feature-rich, network-based voice and signaling services. The platform bridges existing wired and wireless networks with next-generation IP networks, integrates IP and TDM protocols, and allows development of Intelligent Network services.

“Today’s announcement reaffirms Dialogic’s commitment to the enhancement of the CSP product family, which provides a portfolio of scalable and feature-rich solutions to enable the implementation new revenue-generating services. From unified messaging to the latest web-based voice and signaling applications, the CSP is the ideal solution for carrier-class services on any type of network.”

Designed to improve usability, enable new applications, and drive incremental revenue for application developers, the new features announced today include: a host-based SIP stack, providing added flexibility for developers who prefer this architecture to an embedded SIP stack; new Dialogic IP Network Interface Series 3 card (IPN3) which transcodes PCM coded voice traffic (in legacy networks) to any of the most common IP codecs in IP networks.

It also includes a new Dialogic Digital Signal Processing Series 2 Plus card (DSP2 Plus) with robust media processing capabilities.  China Telecom (News - Alert) Service Interface (CTSI) protocol version 1.3, 2002 to support text messaging over PSTN networks.
