Recently, Pingtel launched version 3.6 of its SIPxchange ECS solution. This latest version is aimed at improving the features, bringing down the operational costs and enhancing the flexibility of the company’s Enterprise Communications Server (SIP PBX).

The new version of the SIPxchange ECS delivers improved voice quality. The earlier version was based on the SIP standard. Hence it routed voice packets on a peer-to-peer basis along the fastest path between end-points, instead of connecting them through the PBX (News - Alert). However, the latest version facilitates SIPxchange ECS to back up Polycom HD Voice technology, the latest HD Voice-equipped Polycom IP phone and the SoundPoint IP 650. The integration of SoundPoint IP 650 with SIPxchange ECS in version 3.6 provides enhanced call clarity and renders communications lucratively.

Sunil Bhalla, senior vice president and general manager, voice communications, at Polycom (News - Alert), while enumerating the attributes of their latest offering, said, “Improving voice clarity is extremely important in business communications because it greatly reduces costly misunderstandings and minimizes listener fatigue.”

“The combination of Polycom’s SoundPoint IP650 with Pingtel’s SIPxchange ECS IP PBX offers customers an integrated solution that provides a high-quality VoIP communications experience,” he said in a press release.

SIPxchange 3.6, the latest offering of the Pingtel ECS software, is a unique product offering the following features:

--Incorporates a unified messaging core based on SIP
--Provides for an improvised graphical user interface that facilitates easy installation, system operation and maintenance
--Offers the intercom and lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) support

The abovementioned features further enhance the competence of SIPxchange ECS and makes way for easy accommodation within a company’s present IT environment for effortless installation and usage.

The high-availability capabilities initially introduced in release 3.4 are further enhanced in the SIPxchange ECS 3.6. Enabling complete redundancy of the call control infrastructure, it is deployed in high-availability (HA) configuration, thus acting as a fully distributed system. SIPxchange does not depend upon cluster or similar technology HA and can be easily installed and sustained.

Having done away with the call control infrastructure that shared load, the performance can now be doubled under normal operating conditions, which adds as an extra advantage. Through co-location of the redundant systems, either within the same data center or its distribution to various offices helps maintain low costs whilst increasing the usability and performance of the network system.

Applauding the achievement, Martin Steinmann, senior vice president of marketing at Pingtel said, “The new additions and enhancements to SIPxchange ECS 3.6 make it the best and most robust release to date. Our new developments make it easier for enterprise users to adopt and deploy a unified communications solution that will benefit their business.”
