SunRocket Launches $.01 per Minute Asia Pacific VoIP Plan

VoIP service provider SunRocket (News - Alert) just launched a new plan that offers calls to Asia Pacific locations including China, Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam priced at one cent per minute.

If a customer chooses to sign up for the new Asia Pacific Edition plan, the subscriber will also receive SunRocket's standard all-inclusive unlimited calling benefits which include, among other things, calls within the U.S., to Canada and to Puerto Rico, for a $199 annual fee.

The Asia Pacific Edition reduces international rates to $.01 per minute on all calls (landline and cellular) to China, Singapore and Hong Kong; and on landline calls to Taiwan, Malaysia and South Korea. Landline fees are reduced to $.02 per minute for Japan; while SunRocket’s fee on all calls to Vietnam is reduced to $.10 per minute.

“Prior to the SunRocket Asia Pacific Edition, consumers were forced to jump through hoops to seek savings on international calls to these destinations, often resorting to inconvenient and deceptively expensive prepaid calling cards,” said SunRocket’s co-founder and chief marketing officer, Joyce Dorris, in a statement released on Wednesday. “Now SunRocket makes it easy for consumers to enjoy the lowest per-minute rates to Asia, building upon our mission to change what is possible for consumers and challenge historical pricing practices by our competitors.”

SunRocket recently made news when it entered into an agreement with Thomson, a licensee of the GE brand for telephony products, to develop future GE branded products that will integrate feature capabilities available through SunRocket Internet phone services.

“Thomson is dedicated to delivering consumer value and innovative features to our telephony products,” noted Tom Bratton, vice president sales and marketing for Thomson. “Enabling customers to use their phones to take advantage of the broadband-enabled features and dramatic cost savings SunRocket offers will open up a world of new possibilities for consumers looking to get the most out of their home phone service. This is the beginning of an exciting time in residential telephony where more features that improve consumers' lives will be facilitated by the emergence of IP telephony.”
