Bharti Airtel Deploys Ip.access NanoGSM Picocell in India

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

The performance of a communication network can be enhanced by assigning a specific radio frequency for each picocell, which enables the transmission of wireless channels without altering their modulation formats.

In order to enhance the in-building GSM services of mobiles, Bharti Airtel, a telecommunications company, has selected ip.access, the multi-award winning UK-based developer of picocell and femtocell solutions to supply its nanoGSM picocells for deployment across India.

Bharti Airtel (News - Alert) has over 100 million mobile subscribers with operations in 18 countries across Asia and Africa. Before choosing the ip.access nanoGSM picocell, Airtel performed many tests on it. The ip.access nanoGSM picocell offers valuable extra mobile network coverage and capacity to its business customers, exactly where needed on their premises.

Now, Airtel’s business customers can make use of faster and more dependable voice and data services, wherever they are on-site. The ip.access nanoGSM picocell is the market-leading solution for delivering enhanced in-building GSM services, which can be quickly and easily deployed for high-value enterprise customers. It has lower capital and operating costs than other in-building coverage solutions, with all the backhaul traffic efficiently carried over an existing IP connection.

Stephen Mallinson, CEO of ip.access, said that this new agreement with Bharti Airtel is a massive achievement for ip.access, which puts us at the heart of one of the world’s fastest-growing and most dynamic cellular markets. He added that this new deal underscores the company’s global leadership in the market for in-building cell infrastructure, working with the world’s leading mobile operators to improve network performance and deliver high-quality services to subscribers.
