Advanced communications services provider XO Communications has received SIPconnect Compliant certification from the SIP Forum (News - Alert). The announcement comes not longer after XO’s multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) IP-VPN service was awarded Cisco’s TelePresence Connection Certification.
SIP Forum is an autonomous association of individuals and companies working in the global IP communications industry. The forum aims to promote the development of IP communications based on the SIP standard.
Marc Robins (News - Alert), managing director of the SIP Forum welcomed XO to the SIPconnect Compliant club. "The SIP Forum is honored to have XO Communications join the ranks of other leading IP communications companies that have successfully achieved SIPconnect Compliant certification."
"XO Communications (News - Alert) participation in the SIPconnect Compliant Program not only speaks to the value of such a vital initiative, but also clearly demonstrates XO Communications' deep commitment to offering standards-based, highly-interoperable SIP trunking services," added Robins.
The SIPconnect Compliant certification guarantees that XO’s acclaimed SIP based solution XO SIP is compatible with all SIPconnect-compliant IP-PBX (News - Alert) systems. The certification furthers the adoption of SIP by ensuring interoperability among equipment manufacturers, software providers and service providers.
"SIPconnect certification tells customers that they will enjoy increased interoperability levels Between XO SIP and their IP telephony infrastructure," explained Nicola Jackson, director of voice and converged services at XO Communications. "The SIPcompliant certification is helping to create compliance and standards for SIP, which is extremely important as SIP continues to be deployed more widely by businesses and large enterprises as their preferred communications protocol."
An integrated voice and data communications solution, XO SIP is perfect for businesses deploying demanding voice and data applications at single or multiple locations. The solution allows such businesses to do away with multiple access facilities for voice and data services and bandwidth-consuming protocol conversions.
A subsidiary of XO Holdings (News - Alert), Inc., XO Communications boasts a clientele comprising half of the Fortune 500 companies in more than 75 metropolitan markets across the United States.
