In a bid to help companies to make a shift to unified communications, Sprint is integrating its Global MPLS network and SIP Trunking for customers with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Release 2.
The advent of unified communications has not only made communication more affordable, but it has also opened up whole new possibilities for the companies. From Internet based VoIP calling to advanced communication technologies such as telepresence, unified communications is helping companies to communicate easily, and save costs at the same time.
Sprint (News - Alert) SIP Trunking offers various benefits such as reduction in the amount of trunking equipment on the customer premise; availability of Sprint as a single source for all communication needs; facility to transport over a highly secure Sprint MPLS network; enhancing voice, video and data traffic with a single connection; and cost savings with no or low-cost calling features, and pricing based on annualized minutes.
Sprint SIP Trunking is the first solution available from Sprint to support Office Communications Server 2007 R2. It uses a single IP connection to facilitate the convergence of voice, data and video communication.

Sprint claims that the internal deployment of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 at the company has is saving Sprint more than $6 million per year in telecom costs.
Recently, the company launched its new Nextel Direct Connect Custom Plans enabling companies to pay only for the tools they think are important to their business. The new plan offers unlimited Direct Connect, Group Connect, Mobile-to-Mobile, Text Messaging and Picture Mail, starting at $29.99 per month.
