BRIEF: North East woman charged in computer theft in Erie

Erie police have charged a North East woman with stealing a laptop computer from a person at a fast-food restaurant in September.
Megan Akerly, 18, of the 10600 block of Station Road, was arraigned today before Erie 4th Ward District Judge Tom Robie on charges of robbery and theft by unlawful taking.
Police accuse Akerly of grabbing a computer from a person who was using it at the McDonalds restaurant at 1115 Sassafras St. on the afternoon of Sept. 16, according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.
Police said video from the restaurant showed Akerly running out of the restaurant carrying the computer while being chased by the victim, according to the complaint.
Akerly was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
