This Week's Top Apps: iWork, Harley's, IVR and Government

What do business professionals, contact center agents and Harley-Davidson motorcyclists have in common? Apps, of course!

From the technical to the adventurous, here are my top picks for iPhone (News - Alert) apps released this week:

iWork App for iPhone and iPod Touch

iPhone and iPod Touch users, now you can plan, present and create wherever you go with Apple’s (News - Alert) newly released iWork productivity apps.

Originally created for the Mac, the Keynote, Pages and Numbers apps have been redesigned for iOS and Apple’s Multi-Touch interface. For $9.99 each, users can create and present dazzling presentations, organized and formatted documents, and informative spreadsheets anytime and anywhere on their iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

Angel’s Multimodal iPhone App

A leading IVR expert, Angel recently debuted its revolutionary multimodal app for the iPhone at SpeechTEK (News - Alert) 2011 in Europe. A part of the company’s Angel 4 Customer Experience Platform, this app is designed to enhance customer experiences during multimodal transactions in visual, voice and text.

A cloud platform for self-service IVR, Angel’s Multimodal iPhone application gives contact centers the ability to bring important information to customers in a convenient, timely manner. A cost-effective method of delivering multimodal customer interactions, this app promises a personalized customer experience for boosted customer retention; rapid self-service adoption rates for decreasing costs and increasing call containment; and an uptick in agent productivity.

Government in Your Hands with YouTown

YouTown, a new platform for the iPhone that lets agencies publish local events, news, calendars, maps, and other services directly to a resident’s mobile phone, has also been released. With an aim to enhance communications between citizens and their government, YouTown brings your community right to your fingertips. With mobile access to the latest information in your city, you’ll be in the know while on-the-go.

Take a Ride with Harley-Davidson Map App

For all you hardcore bikers out there looking out for the best scenic route for your rides this summer, this next app is perfect for you. MAD Maps, a creator of scenic road trip content, has released its Harley-Davidson Map app for the iPhone.

Developed with the help of local rides, the app provides motorcyclists an abundant 985 scenic routes throughout the U.S. The app includes several downloadable maps such as “Canyon Tour” through South Dakota's Black Hills and the “Big Sur, With Love” through California Coast.

The app even helps customers find the nearest Harley-Davidson dealership in case they want to stop while on the road.

In the small chance that you’re a contact center agent that uses iWork by day, and takes to the road on your Harley by night, this may just be a perfect combination of apps to add to your iPhone repertoire. Either way, it sure is incredible how the iPhone and other mobile platforms can appeal to and serve the needs of such a diverse set of individuals.
